Dnsmasq upgrade.

Is it possible to upgrade dnsmasq to a newer version? Is it as simple as recompiling and replacing the binary?

Yes it is possible to upgrade dnsmasq just by replacing the binary. However it is not just as simple as compiling it. You first need a lib5 Linux system to compile with such as SuSe 3.9 or any RedHat 4.x machine and as I recall dnsmasq no longer compiled on my development machine when they went to version 2.0, but it has been years since I looked at it and I was wrong once before.

So I guess my question is what the newer versions have that you need?
If you are afraid that you might make a mistake. The chances are high that you will never learn anything.

I was thinking the latest one. But given what you just mentioned, any version which supports round robin DNS. I have read it is an compile option but I have not looked at the source for dnsmasq yet.
