IP blacklist

Postby gRenbaJ » Tue Mar 30, 2010 7:44 am

Recently I have been trying to use IP blacklists (from bluetack.co.uk) to add a bit of security. And I got to thinking.... I'd honestly like to block most of these (I'm using the PIPfilter for P2P clients) from my entire subnet, not just applications.

Has anyone tried using freesco to do this? The lists do not look like they are in a format freesco could use, and I want to know if it's even feasible to do this before mangling one of their lists (the list I want to use is LARGE, like 8 to 10 Mb or so, 190,000+ lines).

Not to my knowledge, however it is probably feasible.
There are two ways to blacklist using FREESCO. The first is using host names like the current hosts package already does and the second would be using strictly IP addresses and adding them into the masq table and forcing the IP addresses as blocked.
If you are afraid that you might make a mistake. The chances are high that you will never learn anything.
