Apache not running

Postby Kalist Shawxo » Wed Dec 02, 2009 2:24 pm

Ok, I got the bad kernel removed (I'm still kicking myself over that one).. replaced it with stock 042 kernel... and everything running beautifully again.

so then I installed the new kernel that Lightning compiled with VIPC (thanks again btw)... and installed Apache. install said everything went fine, reboot the router... go to check the web server.. nothing. I get:
Code: Select all
The connection was reset
The connection to the server was reset while the page was loading.

    *   The site could be temporarily unavailable or too busy. Try again in a few
          moments.

    *   If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer's network
          connection.

    *   If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure
          that Firefox is permitted to access the Web.

so then I try to check it in the control panel (which does work fine) and I get the following:
for the access-log :
Code: Select all
cat: Can't open /usr/local/apache/logs/access_log

for the error-log :
Code: Select all
cat: Can't open /usr/local/apache/logs/error_log

and for the status :
Code: Select all
lynx: Can't access startfile http://localhost/server-status

I looked in the www directory and all the files are there... the apache manual and everything. just can't access it.

Here is the latest report file :
Code: Select all

Re: Apache not running

Postby dingetje » Wed Dec 02, 2009 5:03 pm

You'll need to enable the WWW server in your FREESCO setup

Change:
ENAWWW=n #HTTP Server

into:
ENAWWW=y #HTTP Server

if you want to enable world wide or:
ENAWWW=s #HTTP Server

if you want to enable Apache for local LAN only.

save changes and then either reboot or type:
Code: Select all
rc_httpd restart

Note that Apache does not look at the FREESCO setup port number (in your case 1080).
You'll need to edit your /usr/local/apache/conf/httpd.conf file for that and restart Apache.

OMG! wow really? I had webserver activated before installing apache... I didn't realize it turned it off.

ok... I hang my head on that one... after all the trials with recent upgrades, I missed a simple one.

Thanks dingetje, it's working fine now.
