TimeZone Files

Postby bec » Sat Oct 31, 2009 6:51 am

Hi,

I'm a Windoze user who limps along with Linux because Freesco is great.
I'm trying to updatdate the timezone file for my region - Melbourne, Australia.

I can find the new data file, but struggle with compiling it. Does someone have an updated compiled TZ file I could use? I know it is in the Modules zip for 0.4.2, but that version seems to have old data in it and DST starts too late and finishes too early for us.

Thanks

Brian

I downloaded the latest information I could find and compiled the new Melbourne timezone. You can give it a try and see if it solves the problem.
Code: Select all
rm-rf /boot/tmz/*
cd /boot/tmz
snarf http://lewys-spot.dyndns.org/packages/test/Melbourne
sync
sync
reboot
If you are afraid that you might make a mistake. The chances are high that you will never learn anything.

Thanks,

It's installed properly. I just realised that I need to wait until April to know if it works as we are now in the period when DST used to be active. So the old file has kicked in and turned the clock forward

Thanks
