There are very few sata controllers that are supported. However to find out if it is you will need to install one of the "triton" kernels and if it is recognized you will see the messages in the "dmesg" command. Once booted and you log in use "dmesg | more". It will also show you what the drive is called as sata operates using a SCSI type driver the drives use different letters like "sda0 sdb0 sdc0". If you can get it to recognize the controller with a hard drive then you can use a CD by loading the iso9660 driver manually or by installing a Triton CD kernel.
If you are afraid that you might make a mistake. The chances are high that you will never learn anything.

To have my SATA working I only have to load the triton kernel right?
I have one pc with one IDE for the CDrom and one SATA that on is not working.
I also have a DELL without IDE only DATA how can I fire the CDrom on this one?

Cheers

With the Triton kernel it MIGHT be possible to get the SATA working. But it is dependent on the chipset on your motherboard. This applies to both hard drives and CDroms. Although with a CDrom you also need a CD kernel or to load the iso9660 driver in the /boot/drv/ directory.

I will also say that SATA support is limited to only a few different chipsets, so the likelihood of it working is not high.

You can always use one of those cheap SATA <-> IDE converters. I've used one of those in my current FREESCO setup. Works like a charm.

Watch for, in the BIOS, something similar to SATA compatibility mode. AHCI or IDE/legacy. IDE would be the better bet to try with Freesco. +1 on the Triton kernel.
