Freeesco 0.3.0 release

New versions, modules, add-ons, etc., will be posted here.

Postby Lightning » Thu Oct 03, 2002 6:18 am

The current release date of Freesco 0.3.0 is set for 11/01/2002.

This date is not cast in stone and is dependant on whether there is any major bugs found in the current version that would require changes and more testing. ???

Hi Lightning.

Since your post here 28 days ago more than 1500 persons have been looking into this propably for the same reason I have, they are anciest to know if the 1st november is still valid (only 2 days from now).

I know in the past on freescosoft.com there was some information on what version 030 would bring. Can someone post that here (or back on freescosoft if that is a better place). I would really like to see if I should upgrade or not. I have to rebuild the router in a few weeks (remove old windows that is still on hard drive etc). It would be nice to then upgrade to 030 (that's why I did not to the rebuild yet).

Thanks very much.

As stated above Freesco v0.3.0 is being released. There are a number of details that have not been finished and updated yet such as the actual LICENSE included in the freesco-030.zip file. Also the final finishing touches on the manual. All of these things will be finished in the very near future. But for those who are a bit impatient and really want it now, it can be downloaded in it's current state. Freesco v0.3.0
Nic modules for 0.3.0

So concider this as where the files are located, But it is at present not officially released. Also concider that there are no packages currently posted for 030 and that there are no 027 packages that will run in 030. So for the impatient this could pose other problems.

Here is the link to view the Freesco v0.3.0 manual http://www.freesco.org/~drb/

Surely the licence included would have to be the GPL, as pretty much all of the software included in FREESCO is GPL?

maybe is this question to early:

I have freesco 0.2.7, and it's working fine, way should I go to freesco 0.3.0?

Can I find somewhere a benefit list, or a list what's better in freesco 0.3.0 than it was in freesco 0.2.7?

I found the feature list: http://www.freesco.org/~lewis/manual/030p2.htm

I will certainly install freesco 0.3.0 next week  ! Thank you people for making it possible to share my internet connection and running a ftp server at low cost :D !!

I am currently running version 0.2.7 and it is working flawlessly for me. Would there be any reason for me to upgrade to version 0.3.0. ie: better firewall or security or any other reason you know of.

Thanks

Lee
